Bless Her Heart, Michelle Thinks Hillary Did a Good Job as a Mother ?
Saturday, November 15th, 2008Women, when they go after each other, often use the kind of insults that may seem terrifically tame or subtle. You know, when one mother says to another “Oh, you still let your kids eat fruit snackies? You know, that’s brave of you - I just can’t stop myself from worrying about all the high-fructose-corn syrup that’s out there. But that’s just me.”
Or how about this one? “Here’s some curry carrots, Jennifer. I offered them to Lisa, but she turned up her nose at them!”
Now, to women, both these statements are pretty aggressive, and those who say them, bless their hearts, are engaging in putting someone else down in a public way. (Of course, “bless their hearts” is a phrase regularly meant to signal something approaching “dumbass.”)
OK, background done; did you see that Michelle Obama “talked” with Hillary about raising children in the White House? Supposedly Michelle wants pointers because Chelsea turned out so well.
Michelle Obama wasn’t always an admirer of Hillary Clinton, but last Wednesday the soon-to-be first lady dialed up the former first lady for pointers on protecting her two young daughters from the media maelstrom of the White House.
“Michelle may not have loved the senator, but she always respected how the Clintons raised Chelsea,” said a person familiar with Clinton’s end of the call. “They need to talk. There just aren’t too many people who have shared that kind of experience.”
An aide briefed on Obama’s side of the chat said she was “grateful” for Clinton’s “pointers” on “raising children in the public eye.”

The Obama-Clinton relationship is less fraught on the personal front, where Clinton seems surprisingly eager to mentor Michelle Obama.The incoming First Lady, who had been privately critical of Clinton during the primaries, first reached out to the former First Lady six weeks ago for advice on how to provide some semblance of normality for her young daughters Sasha and Malia.
I wonder why Michelle seems so interested in Hillary’s advice. She certainly didn’t have a nice thing to say about Hillary when she said this:
But now she “respects” Hillary and the way she raised Chelsea. What a wench. Hillary, if she is talking with Michelle, is showing LOTS of character. I think Michelle deserves a “figure it out your-own-damn-self” since she was so sure she had done / could do a better job. I hope Michelle felt embarrassed by her “about face.” But that’s not her style.
